Horseback Riding - Riding for Children

Riding for Children  /  Packages  /  Lessons  /  Riding Tips  /  FAQs  /  Waiver Form   /  Boarding Barn

Children love riding at Double JJ, but for their safety, we have some rules.

Helmets are required for children under 18 years old and are available at the barns.

Children who do not pass a wrangler evaluation are encouraged to participate in Corral Lessons where they can learn the skills necessary to ride at the level they desire.

How old do you have to be to go on a trail ride?

We offer pony rides for children ages four and under.

Riding for children ages 8 to 17 are based on age and skill level.

Children 8 to 17 years may go on a Beginner (walking) trail ride without being evaluated by a wrangler. To go on an Intermediate or Advanced ride, however, wrangler evaluation and approval is required.

Riding for Children

A short evaluation of a child's riding ability, performed by a wrangler, to determine a riding level (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced). Children will be given some instruction during this 5-minute evaluation, however for those children who have no riding experience, we offer Corral Lessons where they can learn riding skills and earn trail riding coins.

Pony Rides

Young children age four and under, or who are too small to control a horse can be led on horseback around the Petting Farm Corral by a wrangler at no charge. Check the JJ Journal for available times.

All equestrian activities are provided by Thoroughbred Investments LLC.
